Govt to raise fuel prices this year

The new administration of President Joko Widodo will increase fuel prices this year in a bid to cut down excessive fuel subsidy which has undermined the state budget, reports said on Wednesday.
?The (fuel) hike will be made before January 1, 2015,? said Finance Minister Bambang Brodjonegoro following a cabinet meeting Wednesday led by Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
He did not provide details.
Kontan quoted a source, however, as saying that fuel prices will be raised in early November by about Rp 3,000 per liter as initially planned. (*)
