Govt to require use of Indonesian ships for domestic oil, gas transportation

Minister of Transportation Jusman Syafii Djamal said government will oblige domestic oil, gas to be transported by Indonesian flag vessels starting January 1, 2010, Bisnis Indonesia reported.
Jusman said currently state oil, gas company still leased 56 foreign flag vessels to transport oil and gas domestically.
Under the cabotage principle, government is gradually requiring domestic transportation ships to carry Indonesian flag. (*)
