Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Purnomo Yusgiantoro will seek the approval of President Megawati Soekarnoputri to resume the development of nine geothermal power projects, according to a ministry official.
Head of ministry legal bureau and public affairs division T.A. Nurwinakun told Petromindo.com that the plan follows an earlier decision to allow the resumption of the Karaha Bodas power plant in West Java.
The nine geothermal power plants include the Sarula power plant, Dieng unit IV, Patuha plant, Kamojang plant, Cibuni plant, Sibayak plant, East Palembang plant, Asahan plant, and Bedugul plant.
These power plants were suspended in the wake of the 1998 financial and economic crisis.(Godang)
