Govt to revise regulation on mineral, coal mining business activities

The government is revising Governmental Regulation (PP) No.23/2010 on the Implementation of Minerals and Coal Business Activities because it is still unable to effectively cope problems arising in mineral and coal mining operations.

The Directorate General of Minerals and Coal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said in a statement that it was drafting a regulation on the same subjet to replace the PP No.23/2010. The PP was issued in February last year as one of the implementing regulations for the Coal and Minerals Law No. 4/2009.

To ensure that the new regulation would be able to accommodate all the needs of the stakeholders, the ministry is inviting the public especially those involved in the mining activities to provide inputs for the revision.

The directorate general suggests changes for several articles in the PP including Articles 9, 10, 13, 17, 20, 21, 44, 45 and 97.
