The government will revise the Energy and Mineral Resources Minister?s regulation No. 7/2012 on restriction of exports of raw mineral products following the scrap of some parts of the regulation by the Constitution Court recently, Kontan reported on Friday.

Dede I Suhendar, the ministry?s director for mineral and coal mines, said in Bandung on Thursday that the new regulation, which would be issued next week, would contain a revision on the four articles of the previous regulation which had been annulled by court, and the revision on the types of minerals which could be exported.

With the revision, the government would be able to continue restrict export of raw minerals before the full ban of the exports of the unprocessed minerals in 2014 as stipulated in the mining law.

The Supreme Court accepted the petition filed by the Indonesian nickel association and the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce to scrap parts of the mining regulations introduced on May 6 because they were against the existing mining law.

Dede said that his office had consulted the planned revision of the regulation with related industry such as the association of mining companies and mineral experts.(*)
