Govt to revise regulation on tin export

Thursday, June 26 2014 - 01:24 AM WIB

The Ministry of Trade is currently in the process of revising Minister of Trade Regulation No 32/2013 on tin export in a bid to help curb rampant smuggling, reports said on Thursday.

?The revision should be completed this year,? said Vice Minister of Trade Bayu Krisnamurthi as quoted by Investor Daily.

Bayu said that the revised regulation would not affect the current trade mechanism on tin in the forms of bar (ingot), which are traded via bourse.

He said that the planned new regulation would only affect export of other forms of tin (non-ingot) as the government would tighten their export by requiring exporters to meet international standards including in terms of packaging and labeling, and requiring the exporters to have registered exporter status.
