The government is formulating the right benchmark to determine the price of electricity that will be sold by independent power producers (IPPs) to state owned electricity company PLN.

Yogo Pratomo, the Director General of Electricity and Energy Use at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, said that the government would be for example use the selling price of the PLTU Cilacap as the benchmark to determine the prices of power from steam power plants.

"The price of power that should be purchased by PLN from steam power plants should not be higher than the 4.6 US cent per kWh set by the PLTU Cilacap," he said. Yogo also said that the government was also still looking for the right benchmark to set the price of power from gas power plants. (godang)
