The government will set a production quota for each of the country?s tin producers in line with the national production quota of between 90,000 tons and 100,000 tons this year.

Director General of Mineral, Coal and Geothermal Resources at the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry Simon F. Sembiring said in Jakarta on Tuesday that the ministerial decree on the tin production quota was currently being drafted.

He said that the production quota would be needed to stabilize tin prices in the international market, and more importantly to protect the country?s declining tin reserves.

He said that the decree will be reevaluated every year. (Bernard)
