Govt to set up gas pooling agency

The government plans to set up a special agency that would pool gas production from all oil and gas firms operating in the country as part of a strategy to help ensure stable gas supply and price for domestic consumers, Investor Daily reported on Wednesday.

Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Susilo Siswoutomo said that the ministry is currently formulating a national gas policy that would map out gas supply and demand across the country until 2045. This map will also become a basis for the construction of gas pipelines and other infrastructure facilities in the country to help ensure future gas supply for consumers.

He said that the planned gas pooling agency will help ensure future gas supply for domestic consumers where ever they are at same price.

Widhyawan Prawiraatmaja, Deputy for Commercial Control at upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas hopes that the planned gas pooling agency would not cause distortion to the economic feasibility of gas field projects. (*)
