The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will issue suspension letters for 62 coal transportation companies holding the so-called special production operation mining business permits (IUPKs) as they have failed to fulfill their obligation of submitting operational report to the government, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Monday.
The paper quoted Director General of Mineral and Coal at the ministry, R. Sukhyar as saying that by failing to meet the reporting obligation, the company has been deemed to be uncooperative and less transparent.
Sukhyar suspected that the failure to submit the operational report was due to the fact that the coal transportation firms have been engaged in transaction with illegal coal miners.
?The letter of suspension can be temporary or permanent depending on the seriousness of the companies in fulfill their obligations,? said Sukhyar, but stopped short of disclosing the names of the firms. (*)
