The Tanah Laut regency administration in South Kalimantan has been urged to set a deadline for coal miner PT Jorong Barutama Greston (JBG) to reclaim its coalmines which are no longer operational.
The chairman of traditional miners association (ASPERA), Endang Kesumayadi, said over the weekend the government should revoke the mining concession of JGB if it fails to meet the deadline to reclaim its coalmines.
The Tanah Laut government should ask the central government to revoke JBG?s concession if it argues it has no authority to do it, Endang said.
JBG is a unit of Thai energy conglomerate Banpu and currently operates coalmines in Tanah Laut. (Vocces)
