Govt urges miners to inspect underground mining operation

The government has warned all miners in the country to inspect the safety aspect of their underground mining operations following the recent collapse of the underground tunnel at PT Freeport Indonesia?s Big Gossan mine in Papua.
?We have alerted all holders of miners to check on the safety aspect of their underground mines,? Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Susilo Siswoutomo told reporters on Monday.
Susilo said that a 7-member team is currently conducting investigation into the Freeport underground mine accident, which killed 28 workers, the work of which is expected to be completed within 1-2 months time.
