The government is currently waiting for the decision of the provincial administration of Aceh on which local firm to be appointed to participate in operating the Pase block in East Aceh.

?We?re waiting for the proposal of the Aceh governor on who will be appointed to manage the Pase block,? Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Rudi Rubiandini told Petromindo.com Tuesday.

He said that the Pase block is currently operated by Perth-based Triangle Energy, whose contract over the block will expire in February of 2013.

Rudi claimed that he has no idea on which local companies will be appointed by the Aceh government. ?What?s certain is that we want the Aceh governor to have one voice with the local regents, legislators and other stakeholders,? he said.

The Pase PSC covers an area of 922sqkm in Aceh and was first granted in 1981. It has been operated by Triangle Energy through its wholly owned subsidiary Triangle Pase Inc (TPI) since June 2009. Triangle Energy lodged an application to renew the PSC in February 2010.
