Govt will give Reclamation Award to mining companies

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will present Reclamation Award to mining companies, which have been successfull in reclamation activities at their former mining sites, the Investor Daily Indonesia newspaper reported in its Monday edition.
During the last three months, around 30 mining companies had been closed down and the evaluation results will be announced at the end of this year. The award will be given annually.
The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources will act as an initiator and organizer of the event.
“The Ministry of Forestry will also be involved in case of mining companies that are located in the protected forests,” S. Witoro Soelarno, an official at the directorate general of Geology and Mineral Resources, said on Saturday in Jakarta.(*)
