Govt willing to facilitate utilization of wasted 7 MMCFD of gas from W. Java?s Tambun field

The government said Wednesday it was willing to facilitate utilization of natural gas from Tambun oil field in Bekasi, West Java, Necara daily reported Thursday.

Around seven million cubic feet of gas coming out from Tambun oil wells were burnt daily, the paper quoted as saying oil and gas director general Iin Arifin Takhyan.

Tambun field turns out around 4,500 barrels of oil per day.

Iin Arifin said that the failure to utilize gas from Tambun had caused opportunity loss of US$1,400 per day.

He said Bekasi regency administration should have taken initiatives to utilize gas from the oil field. The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources could help in this matter, the official said.

?The Bekasi regency administration should have communicated with (state oil and gas firm) Pertamina about this matter,? Iin Arifin said. (*)
