Grati power plant add-on project to start operation in 2018

Power producer PT Indonesia Power (IP), a subsidiary of state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, said that the add-on project at Block 2 of its Grati PLTGU combined-cycle power plant in Pasuruan, East Java Province, is targeted to start operation in 2018.
President Director of IP, Sripeni Inten Cahyani told Petromindo.com on Tuesday that construction progress of the project, known as the add-on Grati block II with capacity of 150 MW, has reached 81.77 percent.
?Construction has started since June of last year. The target is to start operation (October of) next year,? she said, adding that the process is aimed at meeting rising electricity demand in the region.
The Grati PLGU currently has a combined capacity of 760 MW including 460 MW from block I and 300 MW from block II. PLN is also currently developing block III Grati PLTGU Peaker Extension with capacity of 450 MW.
