Great Wall eyes geothermal project in RI

Great Wall Drilling Company (GWDC), a subsidiary of China National Petroleum Corporation, is looking to develop geothermal projects in Indonesia.

The Indonesian Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources said in a statement that GWDC on Wednesday signed a MoU with the ministry?s Energy and Mineral Resources Research and Development Agency (Balitbang) for cooperation in the areas of technical evaluation, commercial, and legal in the development of energy and mineral resources in Indonesia.

The statement said that the cooperation also includes investment in the energy and mineral sectors particularly geothermal.

The statement said that following the MoU, GWDC will set up a joint team with Balitbang to locate geothermal potential areas in Indonesia which can be developed. GWDC will assign its subsidiary PT Greatwall Drilling Asia Pacific to develop geothermal project and PT Energi Consulting Indonesia to provide consultancy services.

?Following the MoU the technical team from Balitbang and GWDC will immediately make coordination and technical discussions to develop geothermal (projects) in Indonesia,? the statement said.
