Green activists rally in front of Australian embassy

Green activists from a number of non-governmental organizations such as Walhi, WWF Indonesia and Indonesian mining advisory network rallied in front of the Australian embassy in Jakarta on Wednesday to protest the Australian mining activities in Indonesia?s conservation areas, Koran Tempo reported on Thursday.
Hesti, a member of Walhi, said that the Australian government was protested for their double standard related to mining operation in Indonesia?s forest conservation areas.
She said that based on information from an Australian NGO, senior officials at the Australian embassy in Jakarta had for several times met Indonesian government?s officials to discuss the opening or resumption of mining activities in the country?s 150 forest conservation sites. (*)
