Grenade hits military facilities at Mobil Oil complex

Military facilities at the base camp near the gas production facilities of Mobil Oil Indonesia in Lhokseumawe, North Aceh were destroyed early Tuesday after unidentified men threw a hand grenade to the facilities, Serambi Aceh reported on Wednesday.

But no deaths and injuries were reported in the incident.

A policeman said that the grenade was thrown by unidentified people believed to be members of the pro-Aceh independence movement.

He said that armed conflicts between military and the unidentified people broke out a moment after the grenade throwing, injuring one of his friends and destroying four cars.

In the same day, other groups of people also threw a hand grenade at the military facilities in Pidie, other regency in the troubled province as armed conflicts between the military and members of the pro-independence movement were escalating.

No deaths and injuries were also reported. (*)
