PT PJB, a unit of state owned utility firm PT PLN that operates the Java-Bali power grid, said that the power plants in Gresik are still about 24 bbtud short of gas supply.
Director of Operation Muljo Adji told petromindo.com on Friday that the power plants with a combine capacity of 2,200 MW are now receiving 306 bbtud of gas only, including the latest supply from the Kangean block, of a total need of 330 bbtud.
The power plants comprise of 5 gas-fired and 3 combined cycled ones, and another one in Gresik which is coal-fired.
The existing gas is supplied from four companies, PT Pertamina Hulu Energi (109 bbtud), PT Hess Indonesia (56), PT Kangean Energi Indonesia (130) and PT Media Karya Sentosa (11 bbtud).
?So we are still in need of gas for Gresik, at least until 2013 when more gas operations are scheduled to come on stream,? Muljo said.
