Groundbreaking for Kepodang-Tambak Lorok pipeline on March 14

The groundbreaking of the gas pipeline project from the Kepodang field offshore Central Java to the Tambak Lorok power plant in Semarang, the capital of the province, is scheduled for the middle of this month, according to a senior official of downstream regulator BPH Migas.
Umi Asngadah, Gas Director at BPH Migas, said President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono is expected to preside over the ceremony to kick off the development of the project.

The schedule is different from she said a few days ago. She then said the groundbreaking will be held on March 9.
Umi said the pipeline which will be built by PT Bakrie & Brothers, controlled by the Bakries, will start operation in 2015, supplying 116 bbtud of gas from the Kepodang field in Muriah PSC, operated by Petronas Carigali, a subsidiary of Malaysian firm Petronas Bhd, to PLTGU Tambak Lorok combined cycle power plant owned by state owned electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).
Separately, Suryadi Mardjoeki, PLN?s Oil Fuel and Gas Division Head, said PLN hoped to start receiving the gas from Kepodang on time in August 2015 with a volume of 116 bbtud
Zuldadi Rafdi, spokesman of upstream authority SKK Migas, confirmed that the groundbreaking ceremony will be held on March 14.
