Australian oil, gas firm Novus Petroleum Limited said on Wednesday that Kakap offshore production sharing contract (PSC) operator Gulf Indonesia Resources had decided to plug and abandon KF-NW-1 exploration well in Natuna Sea after the joint venture considered the economics of completing and producing the gas pool to be unattractive
According to Novus, KF-NW-1 reached its total depth of 2,121meters and during the last week, a comprehensive electric logging, pressure data and sampling program was completed. The analysis indicated 21meters of gas pay in two separate reservoir zones.
Kakap PSC, which is already a gas-producing field, is a part of West Natuna gas supplier to Singapore.
Gulf Indonesia, the PSC operator holds 31.25 percent interest, while Novus Petroleum, Premier Oil, Singapore Petroleum Company and state oil and gas firm Pertamina hold 25 percent, 18.75 percent, 15 percent and 10 percent, respectively. (alex)
