Gulf to launch 3D seismic activity over new gas find in South Sumatra

PT Gulf Indonesia Resources plans to launch a 3D seismic activity over a new gas find in Musi Banyuasin regency, South Sumatra, according to the local Sriwijaya Post daily.

The paper said that company officials met with South Sumatra provincial administration Tuesday to gain support for the seismic activity particularly as it would also cover some 5,600 hectare site of the Dangku conservation forest.

The paper said that the administration gave its support.

Company spokesman Teguh Imanto said that the Dangku conservation forest was believed to contain some 46 million barrel equivalent of gas.

The administration has assigned a new forest area to be turned into a conservation area to replace the area which would be used for the 3D seismic activity.(*)
