GulfMark Offshore purchases new vessel from Batam shipyard

U.S.-based company GulfMark Offshore Inc said Tuesday it had acquired a vessel, which is currently being built at Jaya Shipbuilding and Engineering Pte Ltd?s shipyard in Batam, for approximately US$14.5 million.

The vessel is a 70 meter (230 ft) 5,500 BHP, approximately 70 ton bollard pull, Dynamic Positioning 2 (DP-2) Anchor Handling Towing Supply (AHTS) type.

The vessel is expected to be delivered in the fourth quarter of 2006.

GulfMark provides marine transportation services to companies involved in offshore exploration and production of oil and natural gas. Its fleet consists of 58 vessels, now mainly operating in the North Sea, Southeast Asia, and American continent.

Jaya Shipbuilding is a subsidiary of Singapore?s company Jaya Holding Ltd. (Robert)
