Gunung Bayan declares force majeure

East Kalimantan coal miner PT.Gunung Bayan Pratamacoal has declared force majeure since last Thursday after heavy flooding forced the company to halt transportation activities.

“Heavy rainfall that hit West Kutai area had disrupted transportation activities and forced us to declare force majeure to our customers,” Operations Director Hengki Wibowo told Petromindo.Com on Monday.

He did not say when shipping would continue.

Gunung Bayan is targeting to produce around 6 million tonnes of coal in 2007.

Gunungbayan exports most of its coal production to Europe, Japan, Taiwan and Malaysia. (godang)
