Gunung Garuda plans carbon steel plant

Steel maker PT Gunung Garuda (Gunung Steel Group) plans to develop a carbon steel plant with installed capacity of 3 million tons per annum at the Jorong industrial estate in South Kalimantan, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Thursday.
The paper Minister of Industry Airlangga Hartarto as saying the company is scheduled to sign a MoU on the planned project with a Chinese company on Saturday. He did not disclose the identity of the Chinese firm.
He said that the planned carbon steel plant will help meet growing domestic demand. No further details were provided about the project. (*)
