Gunungbayan produces lower Q1 output

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Gunungbayan Pratamacoal (GBP) saw output slightly declined to 900,000 tons in the first quarter of this year compared to 1.08 million tons in the same period of last year.

GBP mine consists of two blocks, in which only block II produced coal during the first quarter, a source told Petromindo.com without giving details.

GBP plans to produce around 5 million tons of coal this year, up from last year?s total output of 4.1 million tons, of which 3.8 million tons came from Block II, while the remainder from Block I.

GBP is a second generation of CCOW holder with an area of 24, 000 Ha in West Kutai regency. The caloric value of the coal is between 6100-7300 kcal/kg (GAR) with total sulphur content 0.6-2.5 percent.
