Hafar to operate Indonesian-flagged pipe-lay vessels

Local firm PT Hafar Daya Samudera will invest US$30 million to build the first Indonesian-flagged cable/pipe laying vessels to take advantage of the cabotage regulation that bars foreign-flagged oil, gas support vessels from operating in Indonesia, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Tuesday.

The company?s President Director Hebert Wong said that the company will order three units of the vessels and will become operational in 2-3 years. The vessels will be constructed in local shipyard, he said without giving detail. (*)
