Halmahera Kofiau, Offshore Timor Sea I blocks update

Canadian firm Niko Resources plans to only conduct a geophysical and geological (G&G) study at the Halmahera Kofiau block this year, Head of Exploration Division at upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas, Nugrahani told Petromindo.com Thursday.

Nugrahani added that US oil and gas firm Hess Corp plans to carry out a similar study at the Offshore Timor Sea I block this year.

The Offshore Timor Sea I PSC is located offshore East Nusa Tenggara province and cover a total area of 7,145 sq km. The block was awarded to HESS (Indonesia-V) limited on December 2011.

Halmahera Kofiau block is located offshore West Papua and covers an area of approximately 4,926 sq km with average water depths ranging from 0 to over 1,200 meters. The block was awarded to a consortium of Niko Resources, Black Gold Halmahera Kofiau LLC on November 2009.
