PT Hanson Energy, a subsidiary of publicly listed PT Hanson International Tbk, has won a tender worth about Rp 20 trillion (1US$=9,200) to supply coal of 4.37 million tons a year for 20 years to state-owned electricity company PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

The company's President Director Harun Setiawan Boedi said in Jakarta on Wednesday that the coal would be shipped to PLN's six coal-fired power plants in Java and Sumatra.

The six power plants are the 3 x 315 MW Banten 3 power plant in Teluk Naga, Banten, the 3 x 315 MW Jawa Barat 2 power plant in Pelabuhan Ratu, West Java, the 2 x100 MW Tarahan Baru power plant in Lampung, the Pangkalan Susu power plant in North Sumatra, the Nagan Raya power plant in Nangroe Aceh Darusallam and the 2 x 100 MW Sumber Pesisir Selatan power plant in West Sumatra.

All the power plants are part of the power projects under the government?s 10,000 MW crash-program, according to the company.

None of PLN's officials were immediately available for confirmation.

The Pangkalan Susu power plant is not on PLN's list of the power plant projects it will build under the 10,000 MW program, while Nagan Raya is a independent power producer project(IPP).

Harun hoped coal shipment could begin in April next year.

Hanson has coal concession in Ogan Komering Ulu regency, South Sumatra which covered an area of 10,000 hectares of land, with mineable reserves of 46 million tons, with CV ranging from 4,700-5,600 Kcal/kg. (denny)
