JSX-listed firm PT Hanson International Tbk, through its affiliated company PT Hanson Energy, is set to take over a coal mine concession in East Kalimantan as part of the company's expansion in the coal mining sector.

"We are still in the final stage of a feasibility study to take over a coal concession area in East Kalimantan ," said Harun Setiawan Boedi, the president director of Hanson Energy.

He refused to unveil the name of the coal miner but said that the mining area is located in East Kalimantan and has coal reserves of between 15 million and 20 million tons with concession area measuring 2,000 ha.

“The concession has high-calorie coal reserves to meet export demands,” he said, adding the company would export the coal to Japan and Kanada and was negotiating with buyers in the countries. (*)
