Harita Prima to build bauxite smelter

Bauxite miner PT Harita Prima Abadi Mineral said that it plans to build a bauxite smelter facility in Kendawangan, Ketapang Regency, West Kalimantan.
Maghfur Lasah, Director of Harita Prima Abadi Mineral told Petromindo.com that the planned smelter will have a capacity of 4 million metric tons per annum.
"The investment for this smelter is about Rp 20 trillion. We are in cooperation with a Chinese investor," Maghfur said, without revealing the name of the foreign investors, nor elaborating on the scheme of the cooperation.
"We are still waiting for the license and we expect to start the construction as soon as possible as we target to commence operation of the smelter by the end of 2014," he said.
