East Kalimantan semi soft coking coal producer PT Harsco Mineral is recently reported to have totally stopped its coal production due to intrusion of river water onto its mine in Kotabangun district, Kutai Kartanegara regency, an industrial source told Petromindo.Com
The incident took place approximately a month prior, forcing the company to cease operation since.
?The company is trying to dry (the mine) up with pumps, it will take a month or more,? the source said.
The company?s current contractor PT Harita Panca Utama, which replaced previous contractor PT Karya Lestari Sumber Alam (Kasuari) was also pulled back from Harsco's mine project.
The company started commercial operations in January 2011, producing around 40,000 tons of semi soft coking coal per month.
