IDX-listed mining company PT Harum Energy Tbk plans to sell and produce more coal this year, from last year?s total sales volume and production of 14.9 million tons and 11.9 million tons of coal, respectively.

The company is expecting to sell around 16-17 million tons of coal and to produce around 13-14 million tons of coal this year.

Harum?s sales volume figure is higher than production figure because Harum has bought coal from third parties to blend its coal to meet its customer?s specification. Cost of coal purchase increased sharply to $218 million in 2012 from $69 million in 2011

Harum has two coal mines, which is in production stage namely PT Mahakam Sumber Jaya (MSJ) and PT Santan Batubara in East Kalimantan.

MSJ expects to produce around 10-11 million tons of coal this year, from last year?s total production of 9.3 million tons, with coal sales reaching 12.3 million tons in 2012.

Meanwhile, Santan expects to produce 3.5 million tons this year, from last year?s total production of 2.6 million tons, with coal sales volume same with the total production figure.

The company is also hoping that average selling price will be better, compared to last year?s average selling price of $82.7 per ton, down 11.6 percent from 2011?s average selling price of $93.6 per ton.
