Hatta says no to Japan?s request for additional LNG supply

Indonesia confirmed on Friday that it would not be able to accommodate Japan?s request for more LNG supply as Indonesia?s domestic consumption will be increased sharply in the near future.

Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Radjasa was quoted by Kompas daily as saying that Indonesia will require LNG supply to domestic market as Indonesia is planning to develop a number of LNG receiving terminal to help ease gas supply shortage.

?Other than spot cargoes, there is no more additional supply available? he said.

Japan is requesting for additional LNG supply after the earthquake and Tsunami that hit the country last month damaged and stopped operation of Fukushima nuclear power plant, prompting the country to burn other fuel to generate electricity.

Indonesia through Bontang and Tangguh LNG plants is Japan?s important LNG supply source.(*)
