Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML) has started public campaign for its plan to develop the MAC gas field located in the Madura Strait block, offshore East Java.

Moh. Fatah Yasin, a public relations official at upstream oil and gas authority SKK Migas, said on Thursday that the public campaign activities have been directed at the people and leaders of Giligenting and Giliraja villages in Sumenep Regency, East Java.

?But the operation activities will be implemented at the end of 2019. For now, activities at HCML are limited to internal studies and drafting the AMDAL,? he said, referring to the environmental impact assessment document.

The company said last year that under the development plan, it would install one unit of offshore gas processing facility with a capacity of more than 60 mmscfd, drill three production wells, and install undersea export pipe with a diameter of 10 inches, about 8 km in length and able to operate with a pressure of more than 16 bar.

HCML said that the development program is aimed at producing gas to meet domestic demand.

Husky Energy holds a 40 percent interest in the block, which will be developed in partnership with CNOOC Limited (as the operator) and an affiliate of Samudra Energy Ltd., an Indonesian company.
