HCML unveils MAC gas field development program

Husky-CNOOC Madura Limited (HCML) unveiled Tuesday its plans to develop the MAC gas field located in the Madura Strait block, offshore East Java, to get inputs from the public as required by existing regulation.

The company said in a statement that under the development plan, it would install one unit of offshore gas processing facility with a capacity of more than 60 mmscfd, drill three production wells, and install undersea export pipe with a diameter of 10 inches, about 8 km in length and able to operate with a pressure of more than 16 bar.

HCML said that said that the development program is aimed at producing gas to meet domestic demand.

The company added that it is committed to carry out the development activities in accordance with existing environmental regulations including to prepare the required environmental impact assessment (AMDAL) for the project that is expected to create jobs and develop the local economy.

HCML announced in the middle of last year PQ tender for Front End Engineering Design (FEED) for the MAC field development.

The company said that the FEED study for the MAC field development includes well head platform and about 8-km pipeline tie-in to the East Java Gas Pipeline (EJGP).

Husky Energy holds a 40 percent interest in the block, which will be developed in partnership with CNOOC Limited (as the operator) and an affiliate of Samudra Energy Ltd., an Indonesian company.
