Heavy flooding has hit some of the facilities at the gas fields in Arun block in Aceh owned by American energy giant ExxonMobil Corp.

?The flooding is due to the current severe rain in the North Aceh area,? ExxonMobil Oil Indonesia Inc.? (EMOI) spokesperson said in a statement on Friday.

EMOI is assessing the needs of the community impacted by this event. Some villages around the location also have been flooded and EMOI is providing emergency assistance as required, according to the statement.

?EMOI is monitoring the situation and has dispatched its personnel to various locations. The appropriate authorities have been informed about the situation,? the company said.

Deputy operation of upstream oil and gas regulator BP Migas Dody Hidayat said despite the flood, which hit Cluster 3 and 4 of EMOI?s operation, the company continued production activities.

EMOI produces gas at the field and deliver it to the Arun LNG plant, where the gas is converted into LNG before being shipped to export market. It also delivers the gas to some local consumers. (Godang)
