Hess on schedule to produce oil from E. Java field

US oil, gas firm Hess Corp said on Wednesday that oil production is expected to commence from Ujung Pangkah field in Pangkah PSC, offshore East Java in the first half of 2009 as scheduled.

?Development of the oil leg of the Ujung Pangkah Field is continuing. Construction of the offshore platforms and onshore processing facilities is on schedule,? the company said.

Currently the Ujung Pangkah field is producing gas, which is sold to state electricity firm PLN.

Oil production from the field is expected to reach 25,000 BPD.

Hess operates Ujang Pangkah with a 75% working interest with Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Co having the balance. (alex)
