Hess says E. Java field to commence gas production Q2 2007

US oil, gas firm Hess Corporation said on Tuesday that gas production from Pangkah PSC, East Java would commence in the second quarter of 2007 and oil production is expected to begin in the second half of 2008.

A Gas Sales Agreement (GSA) for the Pangkah PSC, signed in December 2004, provides for the supply of 440 billion cubic feet of natural gas over a 20-year period to PLN at an expected plateau rate of 100 million cubic feet per day (gross). The Ujung Pangkah field is also expected to produce up to 10,000 BPD of liquids, BPMIGAS chairman Kardaya Warnika said in July 2006 interview.

The company, formerly called Amerada Hess, said it would drill 0-12 wells and construct onshore and offshore facilities in Ujung Pangkah field.

Hess is the operator of Pangkah PSC with 75 percent working interest. (alex)
