Hess says Papua discovery non-commercial

US oil, gas independent firm Hess Corporation reported on Wednesday that the Anadalan-1 well in Semai V deepwater exploration block offshore West Papua failed to discover hydrocarbon at commercial quantity.

?In terms of exploration, the Andalan -1 well on the Semai V Block in Indonesia encountered reservoir sands and hydrocarbons, but not in commercial quantities. This well, along with a follow up well, was expensed in the fourth quarter,? the company said without giving further detail.

The Andalan-1, which spud on July 12, 2011, was the first well drilled by Hess in the block.

Hess has 100% interest in the block, which covers an area of 3,949 square kilometer in the deep waters off West Papua.
