Hess to start W. Papua drilling campaign in 2010

US oil firm Hess Corp. plans to start drilling campaign at its newly acquired Semai V block, offshore West Papua in 2010, Bisnis Indonesia reported Thursday.
Dave Hartell, VP & Director of Ujung Pangkah Project, said that Hess would drill one exploration well in third quarter of 2010.
The 30-year contract over the 3,945 sq km block was awarded by government on October 31, 2008.
Under the contract, Hess will carry out exploration in water depths ranging from 100 meters to 2,200 meters in the first three years. Hess wholly owns the block.
Hess has several other PSCs in Indonesia including the currently producing Pangkah PSC operated by Hess, offshore East Java; the Jambi Merang PSC in Central Sumatra and the non-operated West Natuna Sea Block A, which is being developed to supply gas to Singapore and Batam Island. (*)
