Australian firm Hillgrove Resources Limited reported on Thursday that it, through its local Indonesia based partner PT Akram Resources, it has completed the socialisation phase of its activities for its new Bird?s Head copper and gold project (Hillgrove 80%) in West Papua.

The socialisation process is the initial phase of local community consultation during which Hillgrove?s credentials and exploration intentions are introduced to the local communities and other major stakeholders who live within the exploration license areas, the company said

The socialization programme is a necessary preliminary step prior to the commencement of on-ground activities in the area. A 12 month exploration programme is currently being defined with a view to launching a major exploration initiative shortly, the company said.

The Bird?s Head Project is located in north-western West Papua. The regional centre of Sorong, located approximately 130km to the southwest of the area, is supported by regular commercial air and sea services.

The KP covers 1,815km2 within the administrative districts of Sorong and Manokwari. The lease area is sparsely populated and covers areas ranging from the coast through to moderate elevations of around 2,500m within 40km of the coast. (alex)
