Hitay expected to win more geothermal survey projects in RI

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources is expected to assign Turkey-based Hitay Investment Holding to carry out geothermal preliminary survey in Gunung Raung and Gunung Lamongan areas, East Java, Kontan daily reported Tuesday.

?We?re waiting for the approval of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources,? said Tisnaldi Director of Geothermal at the Ministry.

If Hitay gets the two new projects, the company will in total hold eight geothermal preliminary survey projects in Indonesia.

As reported by this news portal on August 5, the Ministry issued decrees appointing six Hitay companies to carry out geothermal preliminary survey for a 12-month period in various locations. The six firms include PT Hitay Green Energy to carry out geothermal prelimary survey in Talamau mountain area, in West Sumatra; PT Hitay Renewable Energy in the Bromo-Tengger mountain area, in East Java; PT Hitay Lawang Energy in Lawang Regency, South Sumatra; PT Hitay Balai Kaba Energy in Tandikat and Singgalang mountain area, in West Sumatra; PT Hitay Tanjungsakti Energy in Tanjungsakti area, in South Sumatra, and South Bengkulu and Seluma Regencies in Bengkulu; and PT Hitay Dingin Energy in Dingin Mountain area in Seluma Regency, Bengkulu.

Tisnaldi said that Hitay has allocated US$10.4 million worth of funds to finance the eight projects. He added that the firm has in fact allocated about $80 million of guarantee funds if it latter on appointed as developer of the geothermal working areas. (*)
