Turkish firm Hitay Investment Holdings has proposed to the government that it may carry out geothermal surveys in two areas in Aceh province, according to an official of Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources.
?The two areas are located in Gunung Kembar in Gayo Luwes Regency and Peut Sague in Pidie Regency,? said Director of Geothermal at the Ministry?s Directorate General of New and Renewable Energy and Energy Conservation to Petromindo.com.
He also said that currently Hitay is carrying out preliminary surveys on geothermal resources in six areas in Sumatra based on assignments from the ministry and still waiting for assignments of the ministry to carry out preliminary surveys in two areas in East Java Province.
As earlier reported by this news portal, the ministry issued decrees appointing six Hitay affiliated companies to carry out geothermal preliminary survey for a 12-month period in various locations.
The six firms are PT Hitay Green Energy which is assigned to carry out survey in the Talamau mountain area, in West Sumatra; PT Hitay Renewable Energy in the Bromo-Tengger mountain area, in East Java; PT Hitay Lawang Energy in Lawang Regency, South Sumatra; PT Hitay Balai Kaba Energy in the Tandikat and Singgalang mountain areas, in West Sumatra; PT Hitay Tanjungsakti Energy in the Tanjungsakti area, in South Sumatra, and South Bengkulu and Seluma Regencies in Bengkulu; and PT Hitay Dingin Energy in the Dingin mountain area in Seluma Regency, Bengkulu. The firm also was waiting for an approval of the minister to conduct survey in the Raung and Lamongan mountain areas, East Java.
If Hitay gets the four new projects in East Java and Aceh, the company will in total hold ten geothermal preliminary survey projects in Indonesia
