Turkey-based investment company Hitay has allocated US$10.4 million worth of investment to carry out preliminary survey of eight geothermal working areas in Indonesia.
The survey will be carried out by its local unit PT Hitay Runcing Energy, the company said in a statement received Wednesday.
The company has decided to invest in the Indonesian geothermal sector considering the country?s huge geothermal potential, accounting for about 40 percent of the world?s potential, and the projected huge electricity demand in the world?s fourth most populous nation.
Hitay?s eight geothermal working areas are located in Tandikat, Singgalang, Dingin, Talamau, Runcing, Lawang, Tanjungsakti, Rawas, and the Bromo-Tengger mountain areas.
