Hitex sued for canceling rig project

PT Balikpapan Bintang Kalimantan (BBK) will file a legal suit against PT Hitex Nusantara Offshore Drilling for unilaterally canceling a rig construction project in Sangatta, East Kalimantan.

The Bisnis Indonesia daily reported on Wednesday that BBK won the project via an open tender in August, but two months later Hitex cancelled it and handed over the project to PT Brahmana, BBK?s competitor during the tender process.

The US$1.5 million rig construction project is owned by oil and gas firm PT Unocal Indonesia. Hitex won the project but it later offer it again to other companies.(*)
