HMS Bergbau AG quits port operations in Indonesia

Berlin-based HMS Bergbau AG, an international coal trading group with operatiion expertise in the extraction, handling and trading of coal, said that it has sold its port operations in Indonesia.

By disposing these activities, HMS Bergbau AG has concluded its strategic repositioning as a trading and marketing pure-play company as was announced in 2011.

The company in the statement said on Monday that liquidity inflow from the transaction would be used on Asian and African markets ? particularly for exclusive marketing agreements with coal producers.

The aim of such agreements is to establish long-term customer and supplier relationships.

HMS which was listed at Germany?s Frankfurt Stock Exchange since December 2008, is an independent coal trading house specializing in deliveries of thermal coal to power plants and other industrial consumers.

HMS is actively expanding its activities to span coal trading and logistics solutions primarily in Asia and Africa.
