Hong Kong firm plans hydro power projects in Aceh

The Aceh provincial administration signed on Friday a MoU with Hong Kong?s diversified Prosperity International Holding Ltd to develop a combined 1,000 MW hydro power plant projects in the province.
The Aceh administration said in a statement obtained Monday that the projects, with estimated total investment of US$3 billion, will be located in Tampur, Teunom, and Woyla.
The MoU was signed in Jakarta by Head of the Aceh Investment Coordinating Office, Iskandar, and CEO and Executive Director of Prosperity, Mao Zhuzhong.
Aceh Governor Irwandi Yusuf, who witnessed the signing ceremony, said in the statement that construction is expected to start within a year. He added that the Hong Kong company will provide the required financing, while the local government will facilitate the permitting process.
