The House of Representatives asked the government to raise the price of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) gradually instead of a 40 percent one time increase.
The demand was one of the conclusions of a meeting between the House commission VIII on energy and mining and president of the state-owned oil and gas firm Pertamina.
The government recently raised the price of LPG by 40 percent. Many have protested the price increase.
Meanwhile, several legislators said after the meeting that they actually wanted to demand the government not to raise the LPG price too high amid the public protest.
Legislator Antonius Rahael said that realized the mistake of the conclusion only after the meeting ended. Antonius said that he would propose to revise the wording of the conclusion. (R. Amoros)
